Mountains of the Moon Adventure 5 Nights/6 Days
The Best Hiking or Climbing Safaris in Uganda
This trip to the Rwenzori Mountains, which sits on the border with Congo (DRC) provides a unique opportunity to visit. There are dense forests, eerie misty slopes, crater lakes, and giant vegetation. Above soar snowy peaks - some of the highest in Africa. You have the chance to hike on the intermediate slopes or climb to the summits.
DAY 1: Kampala/ Kasese A scenic day's traveling from Kampala takes you across the equator and throughout the Rift Valley to your overnight stop at Kasese. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Margarita.
DAY 1-5: Rwenzori Assisted by guides and porters you hike up to one of seven intermediate stages. There is a great diversity of vegetation, the chance of spotting some wild animals and breathtaking views. The route chosen for you will be based on your hiking and climbing skills and experience.
Accommodation is in mountain huts or tents and cooks will prepare meals for you.
DAY 6: Rwenzori/Kampala Return to Kampala via Mbarara passing through small villages with their Ankole cattle and viewing numerous matoke plantations, arriving late afternoon. The Rwenzori Mountaineering Services provide for hire of basic equipment as well as experienced guides and porters, but the enthusiast may want to bring his own specialized equipment. You need trekking gear and small gas stove as no fires are allowed in the park.
We recommend you bring your favorite climbing equipment, stout walking shoes, warm clothing for nights, sleeping bags, sun-glasses, sun-screens, etc.
Includes:4x4 vehicle with a driver/tour guide, all park entry fees, climbing fees, accommodation and meals in the huts.
Does not include: Lunches en route, refreshments, drinks and bar bills, tips and disbursements of a personal nature. |
