QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
3 days, 2 nights

Queen Elizabeth is a host to a large variety and volume of wildlife. There over 560 species of bird found here including the martial eagle, black-rumped buttonquail, Verreaux’s eagle owl and African skimmer to name but a few.

Day 1
Your guide will collect you from your Hotel and depart by road for Queen Elizabeth National Park. This scenic drive will take approx 5-6 hours. You will stop at the Equator for a cup of coffee or tea and a brief informative presentation.

You should arrive at the Mweya Safari Lodge in time for dinner. This is a large first class lodge overlooking the Kazinga channel, which hosts a large hippo population. The Lodge is comprised of 49 rooms, all of which have en-suite bathrooms and mosquito nets. They have a swimming pool sunk into the large deck, looking out over the Kazinga Channel. The Lodge also offers a conference facility that can accommodate approximately 100 people. The meals are generally served as a buffet.

After checking in and having some time to relax, you will head for a late afternoon game drive, where you will have the opportunity to spot elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, hippos and others. You might want to head to the Kasenyi area of the park where lions are frequently spotted.

You will spend the night at Mweya safari Lodge / Albertine Rift Camp

Day 2
This morning we will leave for the 8.00am chimp trek in Kyambura Gorge. These delightful apes, more closely related to humans than to any other living creature, are tremendous fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. We will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel will give you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo’s will huff and spray mere feet away from the boat, while buffalos linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. After this wonderful afternoon, a slow drive back to Lodge.

You will spend the night at Mweya Safari Lodge / Albertine Rift Camp

Day 3

You will rise early for a pre-breakfast “sunrise game drive” after which you will return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. You will likely see numerous elephants as well as water hogs, lions, hyenas, Uganda kobs, waterbucks and bushbucks. We will then drive back to Kampala, stopping in Mbarara for lunch. On arrival to Kampala, your guide will take you to your hotel.
